IT E-WASTE RECYCLING PROCESS

IT assets (servers, laptops, and hard drives) are collected from offices and homes and securely transported to licensed facilities.Inspection and Sorting: Workers manually sort devices to separate items that can be refurbished or resold from those that require immediate recycling.Data Destruction: Hard drives and storage media undergo cryptographic wiping, degaussing, or physical shredding to ensure total corporate and personal data security.Manual Dismantling: Technicians carefully remove hazardous components that cannot go through shredders, such as lithium-ion batteries and mercury-containing parts.Shredding: The remaining hardware is fed into industrial shredders, breaking the devices down into fragments ranging from a few centimeters to 100 mm in size.Mechanical Separation: Advanced machines segregate the shredded mix into core commodity streams:Magnetic Separation: Powerful magnets extract iron and steel.Eddy Current Separation: Non-ferrous metals like aluminum and copper are separated.Water/Density Separation: Glass and plastics are separated using water, where heavy materials sink and lighter ones float.Refining: The pure raw materials (including precious metals like gold and silver) are melted and refined to meet purity standards so they can be fed back into manufacturing new electronics
